Verandah was created by Anjali Patel Mehta, a keen traveler, fashion and beach lover and an active mother of two. Having lived between Mumbai and New York the label was born from a need to find boho luxe, chic, fuss-free, travel separates that go easily from day to night, using ultra soft and artisanal fabrics and hand work from India. Body shapes and cultural context play a key role in the label’s design philosophy, where each piece is created with a hint of understated luxury and styles that are inspired to celebrate the bohemian woman.
The label makes a conscious effort to support post consumer zero waste, and sustainability. Limited edition pieces in up-cycled denim, ultra soft specially woven fabrics, both artisanal Indian handloom and locally produced are handcrafted into designs. Verandah’s softening and washing processes promote local ‘dhobi’s’ or washer men at the ‘ghats’ who have been part of Mumbai’s heritage. Yarns for accessories are sourced locally, hand dyed and crafted into pieces to enhance the story of each collection. Verandah follows the highest standard of care, quality and fair trade.
